2021–Present · San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance · Lead UX Designer
_____________
Served as SDZWA’s primary digital designer, leading UX and visual direction across web pages, email campaigns, and digital experiences collectively reaching over 20M users annually. Defined standards, guided implementation on flagship websites, and supported a broader suite of platforms. Introduced scalable design practices and built a Figma-based component library that streamlined workflows, reduced rework, and strengthened collaboration across design, development, and marketing teams.
Beyond SDZWA’s core platforms, collaborated with and advised external partners on brand alignment and digital execution, including Honda, San Diego FC, Alaska Airlines, and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. Operated like an in-house agency, navigating multi-brand requirements while maintaining SDZWA’s digital integrity. This work strengthened cross-brand visibility and provided multi-faceted experience in managing complex design ecosystems.

Challenge

The absence of a centralized design system led to inefficiencies, rework, and discrepancies across teams and channels. Designers and developers lacked a consistent framework slowing production and diluting brand coherence across web, app, and email.
Solutions & Outcomes

Developed a modular design system in Figma, building a component library with reusable patterns, interaction standards, and documented guidelines to unify design across web, app, and email. This framework reduced production time and cut email build hours by more than half, while ensuring consistent brand application across all platforms.
By translating scattered visual styles into a cohesive digital identity, the system strengthened collaboration between design, development, and marketing teams and scaled to support high-visibility initiatives.
